Canadian pianist EDWIN GNANDT enjoys a successful career with over five hundred appearances as soloist, accompanist, adjudicator & workshop clinician. He has been praised by the San Francisco Examiner for his “consistently alluring sound”, by the Oakland Tribune for his “ear for phrasing”, & by the Los Angeles Times for his “distinct refinement”. His performances have been in a variety of countries including Canada, the United States, Russia and Scotland. Recent appearances have taken him to St Petersburg, Russia; Denver, Colorado; Seattle & Vancouver. Many of his students have pursued studies at leading universities throughout Canada & the US and have been winners at local, provincial & national piano competitions.
Mr. Gnandt completed his Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Calgary & his Masters of Music at the University of Washington under Randolph Hokanson. He did postgraduate studies with Adele Marcus at the Juilliard School of Music in New York. He collaborates & records with many of Canada’s finest musicians: Thomas Williams (McGill University) & Allan Monk (New York Metropolitan Opera) whom he has served as personal pianist since 1989. Mr. Gnandt is on faculty at Nazarene University College, Calgary, & is listed in the Lexington’s Who’s Who of Professionals in North America.
