A collection of folk music, games, and activities to develop rhythmic, melodic, vocal, motor, social, and improvisational skills. All songs are traditional, with the exception of Dillan Bay (by Gordon Bok). Includes information on the notation of the songs and suggested grade levels. The notations in this volume are transcriptions of the songs as Jill originally sang them and attempt to show more clearly the phrasing and style used. The notations show the rhythmic anticipations, hesitations, and "vocal gestures" (slides, scoops, etc.) used by the singer. Each song gives the origin, lyrics and melody line (all are in stick notation), and formation and actions (when appropriate). The included CD features Jill singing, sometimes with accompaniment on dulcimer, autoharp, guitar, or banjo.
