This 'musical overview' package includes the following sections (in approximate chronological order) and the number of pages per section. Longer sections have page numbers given (page 1 of 8, etc.) Pieces with a section given in brackets (such as The Four Seasons) means that detailed analysis is given for this section only and not the entire work. The introduction pages for each era are standard so that they can be used for any grade or purpose. Simply have students highlight the genres that they are studying as all the major genres and characteristics for each era are listed. Introductory sections are given in bold print in the list below. The résumé section for composers include: biographical details of their birthplace; family; education; career and personal life; travels; death; classification of their works; portfolios with genres and representative titles; influences and contributions; and list of musical characteristics.
